About the quality of this video. There is the official one on youtube — https://youtu.be/04F4xlWSFh0 — and it's horrible. It has the thickest interlaced lines I ever seen. This video has its own flaws. It's a digitalized copy from some analogue source, probably magnetic video tape. I used it cause I found no better source in the internet. First, it has this weird color moire pattern (see 0:23) which I don't understand much. Second, the music video was shot in 24fps, but this copy had 30fps with interlacing. Using the yadif filter I managed to convert into "fake" 60fps without interlacing. I didn't convert it back into 24fps because I faced frame drops for the reason I didn't investigate much, so let's assume there is no way I could convert it back without losses. Finally, I upscaled the video from 704×480 to 1584x1080 just to win some bitrate on youtube. Another issue is audio. The audio came from this magnetic tape was pretty fine, but had some distinguished noises. The 2001 CD mix is also bad, because it had been abused by volume compression (see the "loudness war" wikipedia page). The mix from 2014 reissue is no better. The 2021 reissue is fine, and I used it for this video. Except I left first and last few seconds of audio from this magnetic tape. First seconds have that unique panning for the right channel to match the scene. Last seconds just contain door noise. That's it. Write a comment if you've completed the reading.
