I really enjoyed Toy Story 5! It is a fun, entertaining film that blends creativity and technology to deliver a powerful message that stuck with me long after the credits rolled. The story follows Jessie (Joan Cusack), Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), Woody (Tom Hanks), and their gang on a mission to take down technology and reignite the magic of kids playing with toys. Their main conflict is Lilypad (Greta Lee), a leaping iPad-like device that captures the attention of their kid, Bonnie (Scarlett Spears). As Bonnie becomes consumed by her new device, the toys realize they're being replaced, and they're not going down without a fight. The tension between technology and imagination drives the entire plot forward. The film's takeaway is that technology isn't the enemy, but without balance, it can crowd out the creativity and imagination that childhood is built on. It's a timely and important lesson, especially for younger generations. What makes this film stand out are the funny moments shown during the more tense scenes. Compared to previous Toy Story films, this one feels distinctly different, especially in how it visualizes creativity. When the toys enter “play mode,” the animation shifts to something almost sketch-like, as if drawn by hand. This is a brilliant visual metaphor for creativity fading in a tech-driven world. My favorite part is seeing Jessie step into a leadership role after Woody's departure in the previous movie, because it gives her character more strength and importance. The dynamic also shifts with the blossoming romance between her and Buzz, adding a heartfelt layer the series hadn't explored before. One of the most emotional moments comes when Lilypad herself begins to recognize the harm she is causing Bonnie. It hits hard and is a reminder of how dangerous technology can be without proper balance. The subplot of the toys grappling with getting older also adds unexpected depth, touching on themes of growing up and letting go that resonate beyond the younger audience. The film promotes a positive message about balance, friendship, creativity, and paying attention to the people and toys around you. Parents should know that there are some tense moments, but nothing too concerning for younger viewers. Toy Story 5 gets 4 out of 5 stars from me and I recommend it for ages 5 to 8, plus adults. It releases in theatres on June 19, 2026. #toystory5 #tomhanks #tonyhale #pixaranimation #buzzlightyear #Scarlettspears #joancusack #timallen Like and subscribe to our channel to get our latest videos.
