India has an electric truck company that most people have never heard of: Propel Industries. They make giant 45, 60, 70, and 90-tonne electric trucks. These trucks are built for some of the toughest mining environments in the country. Propel Industries was founded in 2009, and initially they built their business around crushing, screening and washing equipment for mining, construction and infrastructure. Propel Industries now has 3,100 installations across over 50 countries. In 2018 Propel Industries started developing EV technology, and in 2023 they launched the 470 MEV and 470 HEV which were India's first smart electric dump trucks designed specifically for off-road mining. The 470 MEV and 470 HEV are 45 and 60-tonne machines designed and manufactured in India. By 2025, Propel had sold around 230 electric heavy trucks, with their EV business contributing roughly 1/10th of their revenue. At EXCON 2025 Propel Industries unveiled the 90CED which is a 90-tonne electric dumper. They're also moving beyond electric mining trucks, having developed the 470 eTR, which is a 55-tonne electric tractor-trailer for logistics. The 470 eTR has 350 km range on a single charge, and it only takes 70 minutes to fully charge the battery.
