Transcription Hi, this is Jan Carroza. I’m the author of Rockin’ ROI: How to Bootstrap Ecommerce with Performance-based Marketing. I want to show you another one of my favorite templates that I use. I developed this for a client because we really wanted to track information about competitors. As you do research or put together a business plan, check periodically how your competitors are doing, what they’re doing and how you can learn from what they’re doing. Maybe they’re missing a niche that you would be really good at and you could profit from maybe they’re not doing it. Maybe there’s something about how they deal with their customers that you can benefit from and make more money there several place. Do research; even if you just Google a company, you can find out information. Make a list of your competitors. Look up business information about each company’s revenue and their number of customers. They might share this on their website. Certainly, their products are on the website. Sign up for their newsletters and see what offers that they’re making, how many employees they have and how big the company is. Look for the kinds of credentials that they might have. For instance, are they certified to do certain things that you are certified to do yourself? They might have a Media Kit at their site and you can find out how many email subscribers that they have. Collect statistics about their website and on their social media platforms. Start with company URL. What’s their rank? Alexa is one tool to find out what their U.S. rank is, what their category rank might be, within say the healthcare industry or whatever your industry is. What keywords do they use? Find out how much time people spend on a site, web pages are viewed, what backlinks they have. Log their Twitter and Facebook followers and other services like YouTube Instagram LinkedIn or Pinterest they use. Get a feel for what they’re talking about and what they’re missing. Then look at comments that people are making about their products. Is there a way that you can take advantage of these things and find a niche in something that you can develop further to make more money? That’s my tip for using competitive statistics to make more money. You can get my book at Bookshop.org/shop/DMCenter. Search for this and other free templates at my site https://DMCenter.com.
