The day begins in the quiet heart of the village. Waking up to the familiar sounds of rural life, the first task is to tend to the chickens. A trip to the village spring ensures fresh water for the flock and to fill a traditional earthenware jar. With water secured, it was time to venture into the forest. The undergrowth offered fresh, green leaves - a vital supplement to the goats’ diet. Carrying the water jar and chickens, the journey back home began. The preparation of a simple, yet satisfying meal commenced. The chicken was carefully cleaned, its bones separated, seasoned with salt and pepper, and then meticulously skewered onto a wooden spit, ready for the traditional brick oven (tendir). Simultaneously, our family worked together. My mother fed the goats foraged leaves. She then expertly mixed dough for *Kaseh* bread, carefully shaping it and placing it in the oven's warmth. Alongside the baking, she peeled plums, adding water to create a delicious plum jam simmering on the stove. The *Kaseh* bread emerged, warm and fragrant. A touch of saffron was stirred into the plum jam, enhancing its color and flavor. The roasted chicken, a centerpiece of the meal, was prepared. Finally, the moment arrived. A generous portion of fresh vegetables and herbs was nestled inside the warm *Kaseh* bread, alongside the succulent roasted chicken. A shared meal, a celebration of simple pleasures. To complete the comforting experience, a pot of herbal tea was brewed and enjoyed alongside a spoonful of the fragrant plum jam, all while relaxing on the balcony of our traditional village home.
