LIMPET CATCH AND COOK A limpet is a sea mollusk that live all over the world. The “common limpet” lives along the shoreline of Western Europe, however different species of limpets can be found anywhere. When I was growing up along the coast of Florida I would always see these guys and swore they were a type of barnacle or something. When Kevin showed me what they were, I was in awe. I had never seen them move because I was usually out during the day and limpets are nocturnal. I would have never guessed there was an entire snail underneath that shell. These limpets are referred to as owl limpets, the reason being after you shuck them, their shell has a silhouette of an owl inside. Another pro about going for these is that they live near several other species you’re able to catch and cook. Monkey-face eel, rock crab, sea urchin, turban snail, other fish species, all of these mentioned reside in the tide pools. Catch and cooks on all species mentioned coming soon.
