Not full awakening, but the genuine sense that something is off, that there is more to existence than the purely material, that questions about meaning and purpose and what comes after death are worth asking. Most religious people fall here. Most philosophers. Most people who pray, meditate, study scripture, try to be good, and believe in something beyond the physical. According to the ancient Gnostic teachers, the psychic soul is redeemable but not automatically redeemed. They are capable of morality, love, sacrifice, and devotion. They build civilizations and create beauty. But they are still operating within the structure of the demiurge, the lower creator god of the material system. They worship the God of this world. They think salvation comes through obedience, ritual, and belief in the right doctrines. And according to Valentinus, they are praying to their jailer without knowing it. Psychic faith is belief without gnosis. Hope without direct knowing. It can take you far but not all the way out. The soul that does not move from belief into direct inner knowing reaches what Valentinus called the middle place, an intermediate zone that is not hell and not the Pleroma, but a holding pattern still bound to time, still within the demiurgic system. Alex presents all of this carefully. And then, consistently, he adds his own frame. He is a billion percent certain that the source does not make second class citizens. Every person who ever prayed sincerely was doing it through real inner fire, genuinely connected to the real source, regardless of what institutional structure that fire was channeled through. The framework of soul types, in his reading, is not a hierarchy of worth. It is a map of where the focus is currently sitting on a gauge that runs from total absorption in this reality all the way to genuine detachment from it. And the gauge can move.
