In this video, we go back in time to unbox a completely sealed, 10-year-old HTC Desire 728 smartphone to see if it’s a genuine retro masterpiece or an elaborate online scam. HTC was once the absolute king of the Android ecosystem, outperforming Apple in the US and holding a higher market value than Nokia. We pull this legendary piece of tech out of the box, attempt to boot it up after a decade, and evaluate its physical condition to see how retro unboxings hold up today. Beyond the unboxing, we take a deep dive into the fascinating history, ground-breaking innovations, and eventual downfall of HTC smartphones. From creating the world’s first Android phone (the HTC Dream) and the iconic Google Nexus, to pioneering premium aluminum unibody designs, dual-camera setups, and front-firing BoomSound speakers, HTC set the blueprint for modern smartphones. We break down the precise strategic mistakes—from their "Quietly Brilliant" marketing failure to identity crises and the pressure from aggressive competitors like Samsung and emerging Chinese brands—that caused this tech giant to completely disappear from the mobile landscape.
