"The most clutch gamer alive." It was supposed to be a joke but somehow this happened- the first 4:55 in Super Mario Bros. and probably the last second-barrier that will ever be broken in this game. When I say "My FIRST run" in this video, I mean my first run ever to get past 1-2 on that pace. The 9 in the top corner of the timer was to keep track of how many attempts I'd done once I started going for the pipe clip in 1-2, so this was my 9th run since I started attempting that trick and my first run that got it successfully. A: A very precise jump at the bottom of the flagpole makes the flag not come down. Someone by the name of Sockfolder figured out a somewhat consistent way for humans to do this. A: This is an old game and a lot of the enemy hitboxes aren't in line with the enemy sprites. A: Very precise inputs make it possible to get inside the wall. This lets us change how close mario is to the right edge of the screen and tricks the game into sending you to the wrong place. A: This is similar to the glitch I did in the other levels to skip the flagpole, but even better. A: By jumping at a very precise spot on the pipe Mario will actually stand inside of the pipe for 1/60th of a second, and if you press the jump button during this period of time you will jump. A: Sometimes you simply jump through a gap in the hammers, and sometimes you actually go right through a hammer. This is because the game can't always handle having all those hammers on screen at once, so some of them don't have hitboxes.
