Gigafactory Texas on 28 February 2022! This is where the Cyber Truck and Model Y will be built! Gorgeous early Monday morning at Giga Texas and we get started on the far southwest area across the highway, see over 200 Model Y’s on the south end, and work out way to the far northeast clearing area and along the way, see a lot of progress and activity including resumed battery cathode foundation area work it would seem. Tons of visuals and annotations in this video with a great overview of all the activity across the active construction areas! Timestamps: Drone flight overview with discussion & illustration: 0:06 to 3:24 Drone flight footage & infographics: 4:12 to 30:35 Here are the highlights from today's video: Here are some highlights from today’s video: - On the west side of the highway, we see more equipment, materials and supplies on the temporary staging area and west foundation and we look at the far southwest hill and pond area. What we will see is quite a bit of this equipment comes from the old bag plant on the north end which is now almost completely cleared of materials. - We then look at the west main entrance area to see if any changes have occurred (nope) and then fly south along the west side to check on the progress of this part of the General Assembly structure. - On the south end, we see much more of the phase 2 concrete area is framed out and in concrete, with a pump truck getting set up to continue pours in three more large areas. I’d say once this new concrete is poured, about 85% of the phase 2 area will be completed with concrete and will be able to accept even more Model Y’s for temp storage and transport as this is what this area appears to be for the time being. - Also, on the south end we see more than 200 Model Y’s are now stored in four main clusters. All of these appear to be in black and blue and long-range variants, and I have not seen any other colors in this area yet. Due to the cold temperatures, we see frost on many of the windows and roofs of these cars at the start of the video. - We then fly to the far east area and see the formerly large ramp of dirt is now completely gone, used to fill and grade the east parking areas. We also see the contractor trailer area has been somewhat reconfigured, with many electrical supplies and spools of wire arranged in a different area. - The battery cathode/storage area sees a big change, with quite a bit of the materials and equipment relocated away from a large area, and it appears work on the foundation area has resumed, with gravel mix being applied in a roughly rectangular area. - The far northeast area clearing continues to get a lot of earth work and many belly dump trucks arriving from off-site bringing dirt to fill in the ponds and help flatten the overall area. We fly to the northern-most area being worked to give a great perspective on how large this area is and the distance to the main factory building about 7,000 feet (about 2,000 meters or so) away! - At the old plant on the north side, we see that almost all materials and equipment have been moved away, with the exception of some containers and steel parts moved temporarily from the east battery cathode foundation area. This suggests the use of this building has come to an end and may indicate demolition. - On the east parking area, we see continued work removing most of the center concrete that was laid down about a month and a half ago or so, and the western half earthwork and grade levelling seems to be nearly complete. Also, just north of the sedimentation basin, we see the tents and trailers have been relocated. - On the roof, more of the “E” in TESLA is being assembled using solar panels that now reach across the full width of the roof. IT appears the only thing slowing work here is the need for more solar panels and racking systems to arrive on site, so we should see deliveries very soon!
