Working Principle Thermodynamic steam traps operate based on the principles of Bernoulli’s equation and are available in both low-temperature and saturated steam types. When condensate passes through the valve seat, the flow rate is low, causing the valve disc to lift under the inlet pressure, allowing the condensate to be discharged. Once steam enters, the flow rate increases at the lower end of the valve disc while the flow at the upper end decreases, restricting steam flow. According to Bernoulli’s principle, this creates a low-pressure zone beneath the valve disc, while the pressure at the upper end remains higher. As a result, the valve closes when the pressure in the variable pressure chamber drops due to steam cooling. Once the pressure decreases, the inlet pressure pushes the valve disc upward, opening the drain to release condensate. These steam traps are made of high-strength carbon steel which is durable to corrosion, and designed regarding minimum shell wall thickness, and pressure-temperature ratings to ensure durability. The valve seat and valve disc are constructed from ferritic stainless steel and undergo specialized heat and tightness process for enhanced performance. This design ensures resistance to outdoor environmental factors, prevents rapid cooling by preserving the heat, and prolongs the lifespan of both the valve seat and valve core.
