Spiralling construction costs forced residents to take control. Throughout the 1990s, they encountered serious problems and soaring crime rates. The ‘town of tomorrow’ was a fading dream. The demolition of this iconic brutalist London architecture began in February 2020 to make way for a £200,000,000 redevelopment.
