mgk, the motivational speaker, delivers an iconic speech as a 2026 Shaker Schools Alumni Hall of Fame inductee. 📝: On October 9, 2026, mgk visited his alma mater, Shaker Heights High School, as a 2026 Shaker Schools Alumni Hall of Fame inductee and delivered a speech reflecting on his roots, individuality, and pursuing the seemingly impossible. The full transcript of mgk’s speech is as follows: "My name is Colson. I graduated '08 here at Shaker. Where I was at in my life when I was where you guys are, I was working at the Chipotle on Coventry. I don't know if it's still there, but I was working at the Chipotle on Coventry. My dream was to sell out the Grog Shop next door, which like probably holds 200 people. I'm fortunate to be able to say I ended up selling out the Browns stadium a couple years ago ... I take a lot of pride in being from Shaker and being from Cleveland. You know what I hate? I hate a boring fruit bowl. You know when you get a fruit bowl and they put like cantaloupe, I'm like, 'Yo, take it out, I don't want cantaloupe in my fruit bowl.' So here's my point. I'm glad we're so excited about fruit bowls and that you feel me, but like I was really different from a lot of the kids in my class and everyone in the school. And I say that to say: in a bowl of cantaloupe, be a kiwi. Hear me out, hear me out. The coolest part of a seed is the evolution, right? Like if a seed just stays a seed, it's boring. You wanna see the seed grow roots, right? My roots were Shaker, my roots were Cleveland. You wanna see photosynthesis take place and you know, to have a stem and branches and leaves and then provide life, right? But when that branch—if encouraged—that seed is... you're planting unique seeds, right? I was a unique seed, I was a kiwi. You wanna encourage other people to be kiwi. You don't want a boring fruit bowl. So look, I say that to say, don't discourage people who are unique and encourage those people, cause you never know what they're gonna grow, flourish, and become. I don't really know why I got started on fruit bowls. What I should have said is a different example, which is this: life sometimes it presents you different paths. The path—there's a door that says impossible on it. You look at that door and what do you think? It's impossible. It literally says impossible on the door. That's probably the right door that you should go for. But if you just look at it, you're scared of it. What matters is the actions that you take with that door. If you walk up to the door that says impossible and open it, you can't see that word anymore. It's just an open path for you to walk through, you know what I mean? So when you see that door that says impossible, the actions is what matters, so take the action to go through that door, cause then that word disappears. Enjoy life for all its guts and glories. They say sky has a limit, but this black card doesn't. Grow up, enjoy yourself. Keep the friends that you have. Keeping friendships is very hard. Life is hard, but I'm here as a living testament of what you can become, cause I was in that same seat that you're all in. I'm not saying that I'm the goal of what you should become nor—nor are all of we, but it's an honor for us to be able to come back and speak to you. I really hope I get a different speech about fruit bowls together by the next class that comes in, but thank you for letting me work that out. Let me cook. Thank you so much." 🎥: @its_juju2x & @bombemmi #mgk #machinegunkelly #colsonbaker mgk inducted into Shaker Schools Alumni Hall of Fame
