Burma Tour 🇲🇲🇳🇵 | Mahamuni Pagoda, Mandalay, Myanmar In this episode of the Burma Tour, we visit the famous Mahamuni Pagoda in Mandalay, Myanmar, and explore a special story of friendship and support between Nepal and Myanmar. After the devastating earthquake of March 2025 damaged important religious and cultural structures in Myanmar, the Government of Nepal extended financial support for reconstruction. The Government of Nepal provided USD 300,000 (Three Hundred Thousand US Dollars) for the reconstruction of the earthquake-damaged Stone Inscription House located inside the Mahamuni Pagoda compound in Mandalay. Nepal’s Ambassador to Myanmar, H.E. Harishchandra Ghimire, handed over the USD 300,000 donation to U Than Oo, Secretary General of the Mahamuni Pagoda Trustee. Nepal also provided an additional USD 50,000 to the Gangaghat Hindu Temple in Mandalay. Ambassador Harishchandra Ghimire handed over this assistance to Pawan Bajoria, President of the Gangaghat Hindu Temple Trustee. Members of the local Nepali community were also present during the ceremonies, including Sagar Ghimire, President of the All Myanmar Gorkha Hindu Religious Association. Together, Nepal provided USD 350,000 for these two religious heritage reconstruction efforts in Mandalay. This story carries a beautiful message: Nepal does not only receive help during difficult times — Nepal also stands with other countries when they need support. Natural disasters do not recognize borders, religions or nationalities. When people are in trouble, helping each other is humanity.
