Brian Burr - "Pretenses" [Official Music Video] A rock track about stripping off the masks we wear and finding out who and what's underneath. CREDITS Music: Producer: Lasse Illington Keys: Lasse Illington, Regnar Egekvist Bass/BVs: Helge Solberg Drums: Jacob "Jack" Kaa Guitar: Morten Grabowsky Vocals: Brian Burr Video: Edited by: Nicolas Delgado & Brian Burr Camera: Eitan Ramot Video Work: Serge Grbandsky Pianist: Kristian Dalgaard Featuring: Jacob "Jack" Kaa and Miles Kaa The Story: I find this one significant on a number of planes. In my mind, this is a pretty solid rock number!! Lasse is both producing and doing an absolutely ripping job on keyboards. Regnar Egekvist, a co-writer and my 'brother-from-another-Mother' is also on keys, doing the midi for Pretenses. Helge, who's played alongside me for over 40 years - and a member of 'the original band' in Sensory days - does a remarkable job here, and is truly tonal in the number. In the video, you can see my grandson, Miles Kaa. Yup, my grandson! He stands 195 cm. He's towering over me! š¤ In the back, that handsome guy is my son, Jacob ('Jack') Kaa, doing a superb job on the kit. Really kicks this forward! He's both in the video and the drummer on the track. So, you have both my son and grandson on the video!! How many guys can claim that?? š¤·āāļø Morten Grabowsky is onboard for the first time in my productions. He grew up with Lasse, who said 'Morten would be perfect for Pretenses!' Thankfully he had time, liked the track, and simply creates this number with his guitar! That drive guitar simply makes this track work. On vocals you have myself, recorded by Lars Brems, as usual. Our new cameraman, Eitan Ramot, stepped in on very short notice and did a very respectable job in Ark Studio for the 'live shoot'. Thanks to Kristian Dalgaard for playing our pianist while Lasse was in Barcelona and Helge was on SamsĆø. Credit to Serge Grbandsky for the great video work with his make-up model, and to Nicolas Delgado for running the edit. We tell the story of 'Pretenses' - the masks we wear - to hide, obfuscate, and defend ourselves - until we hit that 'eye opening experience' and decide to strip them off and be ourselves!! Exposing the people we actually are! Along the way I ask: "Is this the stuff that love is built on? Hell no!! It's Sodom & Gomorrah!!" I tried to play with themes of frivolous sexuality, materialism and identity pretense in a way thatās both entertaining and substantive in 3 minutes. Let me know what you think in the comments!! Thank you for watching - FREE & PROTECT THE OPPRESSED IRANIANS - and just enjoy! š
