Well I just hit a wild milestone, 50 billion views. If every one of those views was only for 1 second each. It would be 1,584 years of collective time spent watching my work. Wild. And so my first thought is: “Is everything I’m sharing, good for this earth?” Is it all good for you? Does it help you, comfort you, challenge you, bring you peace? I hope so… but it also made think of something else, I’m just one person, and I achieved it in 2 years time. Imagine the collection of all of us, and how much we consume together… it must be eons worth of time. Is our best self, here on the internet? I met the love of my life on this app, now we have kids! But I’m on here a lot, and I don’t always like the content I see, but I stay here… how long for? Over half of my life has been on the internet. Is it all for the best of me? Does it make my life better? And now there’s AI, ai content, ai comments, ai fraud, ai food, ai slop… it’s like mush, chum, grey. I don’t care how beautiful can be, or how well it tricks my brain, I don’t want to lose reality. Not because I’m afraid of AI, but because I’m afraid of a world without people, humanity. Please create more than you consume, please, please, please. I know when I die, which could very well be tomorrow, I won’t have the internet flash before my eyes, it’ll be all of the time I spent with my family, and damn if I’m not just the biggest idiot alive for not prioritizing them every free moment I get.
