Over the last 17yrs - the Enforcement Directorate filed Over 5,400 Money Laundering cases under PMLA Act. It secured only 23 convictions in court - that's less than a 0.5% conviction rate!!! The rise of ED to a super CBI is fascinating. Politicised by the congress - Weaponised by the BJP. Prevention of Money Laundering Act - A law that was brought in to hack illegal drug trafficking, money laundering & to put a stop to legitimising Black Money has gradually moved on from being a law to a political tool in the hands of the ruling government…be it Congress who politicised it - to BJP that weaponised it. A brilliant article in Scroll - https://scroll.in/article/1027571/how-the-modi-government-has-weaponised-the-ed-to-go-after-indias-opposition - highlights how in the ED has become a force to reckon with & a weapon to intimidate the opposition by the party in power - be in Congress or the BJP. Do watch the episode to understand how powerful ED has become after the 2019 amendment & to understand if the PMLA stands constitutionally correct ? ************************************************************************************ 🇮🇳 SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE VIDEOS 🇮🇳 - https://www.youtube.com/thedeshbhakt ▶️ ⛔️ BECOME A DESHBHAKT MEMBER - https://www.patreon.com/thedeshbhakt ⛔️ Unlock MEMBER ONLY: 1) Chats 2) Discord Server 3) Special Episodes 👕 DESHBHAKT MERCH - India's First Line of Socially & Politically aware tees 👕 https://kadakmerch.com/collections/thedeshbhakt 📧 BUSINESS ENQUIRIES - contact (at) thedeshbhakt (dot) in 📧 *** SUBSCRIBE / FOLLOW US *** YouTube: - https://youtube.com/thedeshbhakt Twitter :- https://twitter.com/thedeshbhakt Web - https://thedeshbhakt.in/ Instagram :- https://instagram.com/akashbanerjee.in Facebook :- https://www.facebook.com/akashbanerjee.in Podcast - https://anchor.fm/thedeshbhakt Chapter Heads : 00:00 - ED a political tool ? 02:40 - Maha-politics & role of ED 04:04 - What is money laundering Act? 05:08 - From Drugs to Politics 07:39 - A political witch-hunt? 09:36 - How Congress weaponised ED 11:01 - How BJP added a nuclear tip 11:51 - IS PMLA constitutional?
