I've merged all my previous Edit's here in the description to be one big cohesive info dump for all of your most important, frequently asked, and annoying questions lmao Producers: Hachi/Kenshi Yonezu (music, lyrics) Minakata Laboratory (video) Singer: Hatsune Miku Translation: http://vocaloidlyrics.wikia.com/wiki/%E7%A0%82%E3%81%AE%E6%83%91%E6%98%9F_(Suna_no_Wakusei) / vgperson Subtitles: Finley (me) Original video: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm31606995 Interview with Hachi/Kenshi Yonezu and ryo about Sand Planet and some other things: http://vgperson.com/vocalinterview.php I don't own anything except the subtitles. WHAT THIS SONG MEANS: Obviously you can take your own interpretation as you go along, but generally this song is about Vocaloid's decline. From when Hachi/Kenshi Yonezu was first posting songs to now, there is definitely a very changed landscape, which I can personally attest to since I've been listening to Vocaloid around 2008/2009. As Kenshi Yonezu states in an interview I linked above: "When I received the request, I was just thinking 'What should I even do...?' So, I kept looking at present-day NicoNico Douga. I looked at the rankings, went backward through the popular videos since I stopped looking there. I'm not sure how to say it, but it's clearly a different landscape from when I was posting there. An image formed of NicoNico Douga itself slowly turning into a desert. Once I had that thought, I realized it might be interesting to make a song that depicted the hometown of sorts I once dwelled in becoming a desert. It felt I should depict the current state of NicoNico Douga... or at least, it'd be fine if someone did that. I thought there would be meaning to me doing the song in that case, so I accepted the request." So Sand Planet is our current state of Vocaloid, along with our animal-mask characters most likely representing musicians that first began their debut in Vocaloid, but then moved on to write music for different things. Even Kenshi Yonezu has done this himself, going from Hachi in Vocaloid to a Kenshi Yonezu who sings his own songs. (Some people have been saying that certain animal-masks represent specific producers and while that may be true I don't have any evidence to back it up). And although this seems like a bit of a downer to be using for a 10th anniversary song, it is also supposed to give you hope. It's time for the next generation to take things into their own hands and make their own songs. If you don't like how Vocaloid is now, change it with your own two hands! WHAT DOES THAT BEGINNING PART SAY? Honestly idk what to tell you guys, I've been trying to find anything official on those first words in English in the song but I can't find anything. Not even the official lyricbook that came with the 10th Anniversary CD, which only had the Japanese lyrics written out. To me it sounds like "Back to back, remember I was born." I think some variation on that is most likely correct. WHAT'S ALL THIS ABOUT COPYRIGHT/MIKUHATSUNEVEVO/SAND PLANET FEAT. NICKI MINAJ? There was an account called MikuHatsuneVevo on here which was discovered to be a fake after certain people were approached and later confirmed that there was no official Miku Hatsune Vevo account. People were working together to get YouTube to take it down, meanwhile MikuHatsuneVevo had posted a video called "Sand Planet feat. Nicki Minaj." I mostly ignored it until someone commented on this video letting me know that MikuHatsuneVevo had stolen my subtitled version to use in their video. I filed a copyright claim to get it taken down, since I did not give them permission to use it. In the end, YouTube did take it down, and later on the whole account got removed. And thus the evil was defeated and I ended up helping out with that so that was cool. DID YOU REMOVE MY COMMENT? If you make a comment about how "wehh Miku is so flat in this..." or "miku looks like a boy with that flat chest... why'd they draw her liek that :'(" I will delete it. If you spread false information, I will delete it. WHY DOES THIS SOUND LIKE THE 2ND OPENING OF MY HERO ACADEMIA? Hachi/Kenshi Yonezu wrote both this song and the 2nd Opening of My Hero Academia Now I'm begging yall for the last time... please read the description before you post a comment that 200 people have posted before you. I have written you a very long thing explaining as much as I can. Thank you for reading.
