AI can optimise almost anything it can measure. Dr Zohar Bronfman argues that this is exactly why it will never be able to tell us what is worth wanting. Every intelligent system, human or artificial, climbs towards something it values, but AI can only climb towards what is observable, measurable or explicitly assumed. Human value has a second dimension, made of love, aesthetics, fun and the example we want to set, and none of it reduces to a variable. As AI collapses the time we spend on execution, the scarce skill becomes the ability to define and refine our own goals, sharpened by creativity that adds new peaks to our value space and by ethics that brings the blurred parts of it into focus. The smarter AI gets, the more human we must become. Dr Zohar Bronfman spent his adult life studying intelligence, moving between research into how minds and machines learn to predict, and the practical business of building systems that turn prediction into action for organisations around the world. That combination gives him an unusually clear view of where the technology is genuinely accelerating and where it quietly stops. Zohar is drawn to the questions that sit underneath the engineering: what value actually is, why some of it can be measured and most of it cannot, and what it means to be a species that is about to outsource its execution but not its judgement. He brings a rigorous but personal perspective on intelligence, creativity, ethics, and the human work that AI is leaving behind for us to do.
