Today we’re at one of Oslo’s proudest landmarks — the Nobel Peace Center. This is where the story of the Nobel Peace Prize comes to life. I’m really excited to take you guys inside, so let’s go!” “So I’ve just walked in… and the first thing I notice is how calm it feels in here. It’s quiet, modern, and kind of peaceful — which makes sense, right? It doesn’t feel crowded or noisy. You automatically lower your voice a little. It just has that vibe.” “Right at the entrance, you see the names of all the Nobel Peace Prize winners. Each one has the year they won and a short description of why they received it.” “And honestly, standing here and reading through them is pretty powerful. You see individuals and organizations from all over the world who’ve stood up for human rights, equality, and peace.” “It kind of makes you realize how one person — or one movement — can really change history.” “Then I walked through the Nobel Legacy section. This part talks about Alfred Nobel — why he created the prize and what his vision was.” “I didn’t spend too much time here, but it connects everything. It reminds you that this whole place exists because one person believed peace efforts should be recognized and celebrated.” “One of the main exhibitions right now focuses on the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Nihon Hidankyo — a Japanese organization representing survivors of the atomic bombings.” “This section really hits differently. There are personal stories, photos, and testimonies from survivors who’ve spent their lives campaigning against nuclear weapons.” “You’re not just reading facts on a wall. You’re reading real stories from real people. And it makes the whole experience feel very human.” “And then there’s this installation that really made me pause.” “There are 1000 wooden figures designed by Kengo Kuma. Each figure represents someone who died in the atomic bombings in Japan.” “It’s simple — just wooden forms — but when you realize what each one stands for, it becomes very emotional. The room feels heavier. You just stand there for a moment and take it in.” “Next, I stepped into something called Nobel’s Hage — or the Nobel Field.” “This room is so cool visually. It’s dimly lit, and all around you are illuminated portraits of Nobel Peace Prize laureates.” “It almost feels like you’re walking through a field of stories. Each face represents courage, struggle, and hope. It’s actually one of my favorite rooms in the centre.” [The Nobel Peace Prize Medal] “And of course, you can’t come here without learning about the Nobel Peace Prize medal itself.” “It’s made of 18-carat gold and has Alfred Nobel’s portrait on it. Seeing it up close — even in a display — makes you think about what it truly represents. It’s not just an award. It symbolizes global recognition for standing up for peace.” [Gift Shop / Exit] “Before heading out, I quickly walked through the gift shop. They have books, souvenirs, and little peace-themed items. It’s small but meaningful — not overly commercial.” [Closing – Outside] “So yeah… walking out of the Nobel Peace Center, you don’t feel hyped or entertained. You feel thoughtful. Reflective. Maybe even inspired.” “It’s one of those places that quietly makes an impact.” “If you’re visiting Oslo, I’d definitely recommend adding this to your list.” “Thanks for coming along with me, and I’ll see you in the next vlog!”
