Over 50 BYD B12s have been ordered for 4 routes across London. With the 312 becoming one of the first routes to use BYD B12s in the UK. With Uno Bus being the first to use B12s in the UK on various routes across Hertfordshire. BYD B12s are the single deck counterpart of the BYD BD11 double decker. These buses are the fourth type of electric single deckers to be used on the 312. The route has used Optare MetroCity EVs between 2014 and 2024, A Plaxton Pointer converted from diesel to electric in 2018, And a Yutong E10 single deck electric in Spring 2018. As mentioned earlier, BYD B12s are on order for 4 other TfL routes, including... Route 95 - Southall, Town Hall to Shepherds Bush Route 166 - West Croydon to Banstead or Epsom Hospital, Route 268 - Golders Green to Finchley Road, O2 Centre, And route 491 - Waltham Cross to North Middlesex Hospital. Outside London, B12s have been used by Uno Bus since 2025. Uno were the first to use the type in the UK. Uno's B12s primarily run on University shuttle services. With occasional uses on the non-TfL 243, which enters London in Barnet. Despite being named B12s, no buses on order for TfL services are 12 metres long.
