This Fujitsu ductless mini split was set to 64°F — but it WASN’T COOLING. On this real, uncut HVAC service call on Long Island, NY, I troubleshoot a two-zone Fujitsu mini split system that is severely low on R410A refrigerant. Once I open up the outdoor unit, the clues start showing themselves: oil residue, suspicious flare connections, low refrigerant pressure and a system that simply isn’t doing its job. But finding a low system is only the beginning. One of the biggest lessons in this video is something every HVAC technician should understand: GIVE THE CUSTOMER OPTIONS. When a refrigerant leak exists, there isn’t always one single answer. I explain 5 options a property owner may have: Do nothing Add refrigerant and get the system operating again Add refrigerant with leak sealant/dye Perform a complete refrigerant leak search and repair Replace the system The important part is explaining the condition of the equipment, explaining the risks and costs of each option, and allowing the customer to make an informed decision. On this Fujitsu system, we recover/weigh the refrigerant and ultimately add approximately 4 lbs. 14 oz. of R410A to restore operation. You’ll also see: ✅ Real-world Fujitsu mini split troubleshooting ✅ Low refrigerant diagnosis ✅ Refrigerant oil residue around the outdoor unit ✅ Why oil can be an important leak indicator ✅ Properly weighing refrigerant into a ductless system ✅ Why ductless systems can be difficult to charge by pressure alone ✅ Cleaning the outdoor condenser ✅ Cleaning old refrigerant oil residue ✅ Why technicians need to document what they find ✅ Customer repair vs. replacement options ✅ The REAL amount of time involved in “just adding a little Freon” This is real HVAC service work — uncut, unscripted and in the field. And here's another reality homeowners sometimes don't see: What sounds like a “five-minute refrigerant call” turned into approximately 1 hour and 16 minutes on site. Diagnosis, accessing equipment, recovering refrigerant, weighing the charge, operating the system, verifying performance, cleaning up, documenting the work and explaining options all take time. That’s what professional HVAC service actually looks like. 📍 NEED PLUMBING, HEATING OR COOLING SERVICE ON LONG ISLAND?
