Gutwillinger, whose debut novel, North of Broken & Furever Home, launched February 14, 2026. From a small northern Ontario town, Holly brings together her love of storytelling, family and animals in a novel exploring a woman’s complex relationship with her rescue dogs. Holly is the proud mother of two adult sons. She holds a certificate in creative writing from the University of Toronto’s School of Continuing Studies and is currently completing her MFA in fiction at the University of King’s College. She also serves on the board of her local writers’ guild and volunteers with the Women’s Fiction Writers Association. Her favorite colour is BLUE. Her one word: UNSTOPPABLE And three words describing her life: Resilient • Heart-Centred • Empath This Teatime is going beyond writing a book. We’re digging into belonging, rescue, relationships and what it really means to find—or become—a ā€œfurever home.ā€ āø» šŸŽ™ļø TEATIME INTRODUCTION Welcome to Teatime with Miss Liz, where stories aren’t simply something we read. Sometimes they’re something we live. And sometimes the characters who change our lives don’t speak our language at all. They have paws. Tonight, I’m welcoming Canadian author and podcaster Holly B. Gutwillinger, author of North of Broken & Furever Home. Holly comes from a small northern Ontario town, and her writing reflects something very close to her heart—the relationships we build with animals and how those relationships can become part of our own human stories. She’s a mother of two adult sons, a student of the craft of writing, an active member of the writing community and someone who describes herself with one powerful word: Unstoppable. Her three life words are: Resilient. Heart-Centred. Empath. Tonight, I want to talk about the book—but I also want to explore the woman behind the pages. Because when we say we ā€œrescueā€ an animal, I’ve often wondered: Who really rescued whom? Holly, welcome to Teatime with Miss Liz. Grab your cup, and let’s dig deep. CLOSING SUMMARY Tonight’s conversation reminds us that rescue isn’t always a one-way act. We may open our homes to an animal believing we’re giving them safety, food, warmth and belonging. And then, somewhere along the journey, we discover what they’ve given us. Companionship. Trust. Patience. Forgiveness. Presence. And sometimes a reason to keep moving forward. Holly B. Gutwillinger’s journey also reminds aspiring writers that becoming an author isn’t simply about having an idea. It’s about continuing to show up for the story. Learning. Writing. Rewriting. Growing. And refusing to stop. Holly, thank you for bringing your resilient, heart-centred and empathic voice to my table—and for reminding us that sometimes finding a furever home means discovering where we truly belong. šŸ’ Food for Thought from Miss Liz ā€œSometimes we believe we’re rescuing another living being, only to discover that somewhere between trust and unconditional love, they quietly rescued a piece of us too.ā€ — Miss Liz #TeatimeWithMissLiz #HollyBGutwillinger #NorthOfBroken #RescueDogs #CanadianAuthors šŸŽ™ļø New to streaming or looking to level up?
