It's new car collection day at Porsche's Sonderwunsch division, with an incredibly bespoke 911 Dakar awaiting! We kick off with my friend's Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato, to heard over for an exclusive look behind doors where Porsche carry out 'extra wishes', and reveal the Dakar! Winding back to last summer, I joined my friend to take delivery of this Sterrato at Lamborghini Pangbourne, commenting that there was more to come and you should watch this space. Well part 2 has arrived, and we begin at Lamborghini Stuttgart at the Motorworld, with the very same car still on delivery miles. The reason for this, is to begin the fun at the time of delivery of the matching Porsche 911 Dakar! Thanks to Sonderwunsch, it has been possible to create and incredibly bespoke version of the limited-to-2,500 pieces off-roading sportscar. Sonderwunsch quite literally translates to Extra Wish, and that is exactly what the team do; offering various stages of customisation from Commission; bespoke details on new cars, to Re-commission; whereby an older model can be fully restored and offered in new colours and details, to One-off cars, which we will see more of in the future and some really interesting projects. After we arrive in Zuffenhausen, we jump straight in to check out the brand new Dakar and all the details of the spec. However, to truly dive into what the Sonderwunsch division is all about, I'm joined by Boris Apenbrink to run through what a VIP Porsche customer has available to them when ordering a new car. The car is question is officially to be delivered via Porsche Zentrum Hegau Bodensee, and we've been able to sneak into the process and see it before it heads there for handover to my friend. A big thanks to their team for all the help involved in the process. Normally it is not possible to see inside Sonderwunsch, so it is a huge thank you to the entire team who made this visit possible, to be able to share with you what the department is about and understand the process involved in creating a car like this.
