To battle the likes of the Tesla Model S Plaid and Lucid Air Sapphire, Stuttgart has cooked up the Taycan Turbo GT, capable of 0-62mph in as little as 2.2 seconds. Yep. Absurd. It remains dependent on a dual-motor (rather than tri-motor) set-up, but can generate up to 1,108hp in its ‘Attack’ mode, and go all the way to 190mph. It’s lapped the Nürburgring in 7mins 7sec and has now destroyed Tesla’s record around California’s best racetrack: Laguna Seca. Top Gear’s Ollie Kew was there to witness the record being set, give a tour of the new super-Taycan, and have a passenger ride in the record car with Porsche’s lap time hero, Lars Kern.
