Can I Build a PC for $0! Building a gaming computer usually costs hundreds of dollars, but this project asked a ridiculous question: can you actually build a Free PC without spending any money at all? Instead of buying new hardware, the goal was to search through discarded electronics, broken systems, and leftover components to see if a working Free PC could actually become reality. At first, the challenge seemed impossible because most free hardware is outdated, damaged, or incomplete. The hunt for Free PC parts started with old office computers, abandoned electronics, and spare components from previous builds. Finding enough compatible hardware to create a Free PC was much harder than expected. Some parts didn’t work at all, while others looked terrible but surprisingly still functioned after cleaning and testing. Once enough hardware was collected, the real challenge began: assembling the Free PC from completely random components. Compatibility issues quickly became a problem because the Free PC relied entirely on whatever parts were available for free. After hours of troubleshooting, swapping RAM, and testing power supplies, the Free PC finally powered on for the first time. To improve performance, I installed a lightweight operating system and optimized every setting possible. Surprisingly, the Free PC handled basic tasks, web browsing, and even some lightweight games better than expected. While the Free PC obviously couldn’t compete with modern gaming systems, the fact that it worked at all made the experiment incredibly satisfying. In the end, this project proves that building a Free PC is chaotic, unpredictable, and surprisingly possible. With enough patience and creativity, even discarded hardware can be transformed into a functional computer without spending a single dollar.
