The Beatles performing "Don't Let Me Down.â Anthology Collection CD & vinyl box sets out now: https://thebeatles.lnk.to/AnthologyYT Written by John as an expression of his love for Yoko Ono, the song is heartfelt and passionate. As John told Rolling Stone magazine in 1970, âWhen it gets down to it, when youâre drowning, you donât say, âI would be incredibly pleased if someone would have the foresight to notice me drowning and come and help me,â you just scream.â During filming on the roof of Apple, two days after the recording of the track, the band played âDonât Let Me Downâ right after doing two versions of 'Get Backâ and it led straight into 'Iâve Got A Feelingâ. Michael Lindsay-Hogg was once again directing a Beatlesâ shoot. He and Paul met regularly at the tail end of 1968, while Hogg was directing The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus, to discuss the filming of The Beatlesâ session in January. By the time that fateful Thursday came around, the penultimate day of January would be the last time The Beatles ever played together in front of any kind of audience. This is not the version of âDonât Let Me Downâ heard on the single but the version from the Let It Be⊠Naked album â a composite of both versions that were performed on the roof of Apple in Savile Row Watch more videos from The Beatles: https://thebeatles.lnk.to/YTPlaylistsYT Subscribe to The Beatlesâ YouTube channel: https://thebeatles.lnk.to/YTSignupYT Join The Beatlesâ official mailing list: https://www.thebeatles.com/newsletter Visit The Beatlesâ official website: https://www.thebeatles.com Stream The Beatles: Apple Music: https://thebeatles.lnk.to/streamYT/AppleMusic Spotify: https://thebeatles.lnk.to/streamYT/Spotify Amazon Music: https://thebeatles.lnk.to/streamYT/AmazonMusic Pandora: https://thebeatles.lnk.to/streamYT/Pandora Tidal: https://thebeatles.lnk.to/streamYT/Tidal Deezer: https://thebeatles.lnk.to/streamYT/Deezer YouTube Music: https://thebeatles.lnk.to/streamYT/YouTubeMusic Follow The Beatles: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thebeatles TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@thebeatles Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thebeatles YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@TheBeatles X/Twitter: https://twitter.com/thebeatles Snapchat: https://www.snapchat.com/@thebeatles #TheBeatles #JohnLennon #PaulMcCartney #GeorgeHarrison #RingoStarr #DontLetMeDown #RooftopPerformance
