This week we bring out the big one! I had this highly desirable 1981 Honda ATC250R in the parts pile for about a half of a year and the weather is finally nice enough to get it running. I was thinking about starting on a Honda Trail 55 c105 or a Honda XL75 or a big Yamaha IT400 two stroke but you all voted for the Honda ATC 250R so that's what I will work on next! I start by pulling the "buried under the" Barn find outof the scrap pile and pulling it in to the shop to assess the damage. The engine was locked up and siezed. I am guessing some moisture got in it from sitting all winter. After a little penetrating oil we broke it loose and it turned over!!! The expansion chamber exhaust is a little dented up but I think I can pull the dents out. I tried to rebuild the carburetor but the carb had seen better days and was unfixable. I think I am going to order a knock off Chinese bar off eBay just to see if I can get it running. The rest of the trike was in bad shape but all of the expensive rare oem parts are there and rebuildable. The ATC had spark luckily enough so it looks like the wiring harness, coil and the rest of the ignition system will not need rebuilding. We threw a little 2 stroke gas at it and ..... Did it run?
