The main considerations include external fixation, pin-site care, additional scarring and the need for close follow-up. • FITBONE is a fully internal motorised intramedullary lengthening system. The nail is activated using an external transmitter and allows gradual distraction without an external frame. Weight-bearing restrictions depend on the implant, the treated bone and the individual treatment plan. • PRECICE 2 is also a fully internal intramedullary system. It uses a magnetically driven nail controlled by an external remote controller.
