https://design.minimax.io/ Four shots. Twenty seconds. Seven dollars. And I placed every single camera by hand before the AI generated a single frame. That last part is the whole video. Every AI video tool works the same way right now: type a prompt, hit generate, pray. When the camera pans the wrong way you can't nudge it - you reroll and hope. I've burned thirty-plus generations on one four-second shot doing it like that. MiniMax Design is the first tool I've used where you block the shot first, and then it generates. Quick clarification, because these two names get mixed up constantly: H3 is MiniMax's video model, the thing that generates the frames. MiniMax Design is the desktop app built around it - the canvas, the 3D Director Stage, the editor. H3 is the engine, Design is the workshop you drive it from. The part worth watching is the 3D Director Stage. Director view on one side, live camera view on the other. I set the sky to a pale cold blue for dawn light and it rewrites every shadow in the shot. I pose the character. Then I put the camera exactly where I want it - not describe it, put it - and watch the framing update as I drag. Export, and out comes grey untextured previz with exactly the camera move that was in my head. That's blocking, the thing a director does on a real set, in six minutes without writing a prompt for any of it. Feed it back to H3 and the framing survives. Two of my four shots came out clean on the first try. Then the built-in editor auto-cuts and drops the subtitles on automatically - I retimed one transition and fixed two words. That's everything I touched. 40 minutes. $7. 16 generations for 4 keepers. Every camera move was mine. Also in here: motion graphics, film-style intros, anime and game PVs, character multi-view sheets, a ComfyUI node for your own local workflows - and H3 Max, the new speed-optimised model trained by fal.ai that does a 5-second clip in about 15 seconds.
