Are you paying double for organic vegetables without really knowing what you're getting back for your health? I spent weeks going through the research on pesticide residues, organic food and cancer risk, and some of what I found genuinely surprised me. The answer touches on nutrition, heart health, kidney health and long term disease prevention, and the part that still bothers me has very little to do with the price tag. Every year, government testing finds traces of more than one chemical on a good chunk of the fruit and veg sold in our shops. The levels sit within legal limits, but that leaves a fair question about decades of low level exposure, how those safety limits are actually set, and why an enzyme that travels on your HDL cholesterol means two people can handle the same apple very differently. I also look at the weed killer glyphosate, why the IARC and food safety regulators seem to disagree about it, and why oats are the one food we're strict about buying organic at home. We then go through the studies in real people, from short trials where switching to organic sharply lowered pesticide markers in urine, to large cohorts in France and the UK that came to very different conclusions on cancer. I explain what organic crops tend to carry more of, including polyphenols, and what they carry less of, like cadmium, then finish with where I think organic is worth your money and where cooking whole food from scratch matters far more. In this video you'll learn: -What the organic label legally promises and what it doesn't -How organophosphate pesticides work and why PON1 makes some people more sensitive -How pesticide safety limits are set and why chemical mixtures still raise questions -What happened to pesticide levels in urine when people switched to an organic diet -What the French and UK cancer studies found, and why they disagree -The truth about glyphosate, cancer risk and spraying oats just before harvest -Why organic crops tend to carry more polyphenols and less cadmium -Which foods are worth buying organic and which ones you can happily skip Whether you're pregnant, feeding young children, trying to protect your heart and kidneys or simply wondering if the organic premium is worth it, this should help you spend your food budget where it actually counts.
