Pakistan's innings fell apart almost immediately. After being asked to bat, Pakistan struggled to score, taking 13 balls to get their first run and more than five overs to find their first boundary. India's pace attack then ripped through the top order. Irfan Pathan and S. Sreesanth kept Pakistan under enormous pressure before Rudra Pratap Singh struck twice in two balls, leaving Pakistan reeling at 29/4. Only Inzamam-ul-Haq offered serious resistance. He combined with Mohammad Yousuf for a 68-run partnership and briefly gave Pakistan hope of reaching a competitive total. Yousuf eventually fell to Ajit Agarkar, while Sachin Tendulkar removed the dangerous Inzamam. R. P. Singh then returned to dismiss Abdul Razzaq and Imran Farhat in the same over, and Pakistan's innings collapsed rapidly. Irfan Pathan returned to finish off the tail as Pakistan were bowled out for just 161 in 41.5 overs. India's chase also suffered an early wobble when Mohammad Sami dismissed Sachin Tendulkar and Gautam Gambhir, but Rahul Dravid calmly took control. Dravid produced an assured 59, building an excellent 85-run partnership with Yuvraj Singh, who contributed 37. The pair attacked Pakistan's bowlers with superb strokes through the covers, midwicket and straight down the ground. The hundred came up in just 20.1 overs, and although Yuvraj and Mohammad Kaif fell in quick succession, India were never seriously threatened. Suresh Raina, unbeaten on 35, eventually finished the match in style by hitting Imran Farhat over midwicket for the winning runs. India reached the target with 105 balls still remaining, completing a commanding five-wicket victory and sealing the ODI series. This was another memorable chapter in the India vs Pakistan rivalry, featuring a devastating Indian pace attack, Inzamam-ul-Haq's resistance and a classy chase led by Rahul Dravid.
