Have you ever had a student walk into your studio feeling embarrassed and convinced they are "tone-deaf"? In this video, I’m exploring what it really means when someone struggles with pitch matching and how we can help them using brain science. Citing Oliver Sacks and Nina Krauss, I discuss how true amusia (a neurological inability to process pitch) is extremely rare—less than 1% of the population! Most people who believe they are tone-deaf simply have a disconnect between auditory input, processing, and motor response, often because they try too hard to "do the math" consciously or have been conditioned by negative past experiences. I share my experimental work with three adult students in my studio and walk you through a step-by-step strategy to help them unlock pitch matching: 📖 Check out my book: Money Notes: How to Sing High, Loud, Healthy, and Forever 👉 https://www.amazon.com/Money-Notes-Sing-Healthy-Forever/dp/1945769106 🙏 Subscribe and enable all push notifications to get more updates 🔔 ✅ https://www.youtube.com/@MeredithColby 🙏 Please like, comment on, and share videos too! 💥 Watch Next ⤵️⤵️⤵️ 🌌 HOW TO VIBRATO!
