Visu šo laiku PSRS Ģenerālštāba topogrāfiskās kartes ir bijušas “Karšu veikala Jāņa sēta” īpašajā sortimentā. Tieši no “Jāņa sētas” 20. gs. 90. gados tās kļuva pazīstamas visā pasaulē. 2017. gada novembrī ASV tika izdota grāmata, kuras autori ir veikuši plašāku pētījumu par šīm kartēm. 2017. gada 7. decembrī “Karšu veikalā Jāņa sēta” Rīgā, Elizabetes ielā 85a, notika Džona Deivisa un Aleksandra Dž. Kenta grāmatas “The Red Atlas: How the Soviet Union Secretly Mapped the World” (Sarkanais atlants: kā Padomju Savienība slepeni kartēja pasauli) īpašā atvēršana.
