The customer came in with a noticeable humming and abnormal noise while the engine was running. The interesting part is that the noise disappears when the clutch pedal is pressed. • The customer had already purchased a new clutch kit because the initial assumption was that the noise was caused by the clutch. However, with this transmission and these particular symptoms, the clutch release bearing is not the first thing I would suspect. A transmission bearing is often a more likely cause. • The diagnostic logic is quite simple. When the clutch is released, the transmission input shaft is continuously rotating with the engine. If there is a worn bearing inside the transmission, it can produce a noticeable humming or rumbling noise. • When the clutch pedal is pressed, the input shaft stops rotating. If the noise disappears at exactly this moment, it provides an important clue that the source may be inside the transmission. Of course, the only way to confirm the exact cause is to remove and disassemble the gearbox. • So in this case, we decided to remove the transmission, open it up and inspect the internal components. In the video, I’ll show the disassembly and, most importantly, what we found inside and where the noise was actually coming from. • The 02T manual transmission is used across many Volkswagen Group vehicles, so this diagnostic principle can also be useful for other VAG models. • A complete repair of this transmission requires special tools because of the specific design and assembly of the input and output shafts. Proper disassembly and reassembly require the correct equipment and procedures. • This video is a short diagnostic teardown of the 02T transmission, showing why a noise that may initially be blamed on the clutch can actually originate from a bearing inside the gearbox. • #supermechanik #artempankovich #carservice #goldenhandsmechanic #Autos #CarRepair #AutoTips #MechanicTools #супермегаавтослесарь
