Back in 2018 I was just some random kid on Discord, joining the newly started communities of my music producer idols and trying to beg for a collab. My attempts got ghosted, but i often got good feedback on my songs at least… So I kept improving. barely a few weeks after uploading my 2nd video on this channel, Discord themselves hosted a 4-day contest called Discord Hackweek 2019. I was nearing the end of highschool, and my parents would constantly take away my PC because they wanted me to study for my finals. So I would sneak into their room at night and steal the laptop (sneak 100). I pulled all nighters working on Ping. But then I got caught by my mom halfway through working on ping, and she was gonna tell my dad, but i begged her to wait until i complete the project... So yeah. I completed the project, and then never saw that laptop again. My dad smashed it into pieces. I lost so many projects, it's a bit sad. Still, I had my phone. i would still check on my phone to see if it won the contest... sadly I didn't. I got like 100 views again. But I got some hope after Discord randomly decided to include me in their blog thanks to Zencha. They didn't do this for any other project. After that shoutout, I got a huge burst of views over the course of 6 months, totaling 10,000... I remember talking to my middle eastern classmates and being all smug about it, flexing on them lol. I thought that was the end of my music career, it was a fun ride. Except something miraculous happened. On December 22 of 2019 i woke up at midnight because my phone was constantly throwing notifications... i checked my phone and saw that it was getting spammed by youtube comments and discord dm’s... i checked the song on youtube, and it had 100k views overnight. WTF. That morning i was jumping all over the house from joy... but my parents were NOT thrilled. Had to go back to study. So I did. But I was still constantly on my phone, frantically responding to the flood of discord dm's and checking the comments daily. I panicked because everyone wanted the song to be on spotify. So i found a way to upload it... but due to the Christmas break, that distributor delayed me by 3 months and I was devastated. The algorithm slowed down at around 600k views, and the song was no longer that viral anymore. So I made no money from it. I decided to joke about that situation in the subtitles. I ended up getting carried away and making goofy comments all across the entire song. But then another miracle happened. Over the next few weeks, purely because of the subtitles, Ping's viewcount exploded to 10, 20, 30 million... and because now it WAS on all the different streaming services including Spotify, Ping singlehandedly paid the bills and allowed me to have my dream career. I didn't post consistently because a lot of life stuff happened between then and now... Had to deal with some isolation and health issues. But now I realized that music is... really all I have. I really enjoy improving and I want to keep working on cooler and cooler projects for everyone to enjoy & be inspired by. Love yall :) ... Epilepsy warning.
