Afghan food is a meat lover's paradise — from a legendary slow-simmered breakfast in Kabul Old City to a riverside lamb feast in Paghman Valley, just 45 minutes from the city at the base of the Hindu Kush mountains! Afghanistan's meat obsession is real, and today my friend Bilal Kamal and I are experiencing it from morning to night. We start in Kabul Old City with kalla pacha at Faizi Kalla wa Pacha Restaurant — slow-simmered sheep's head and trotters that just might be one of the world's greatest breakfasts. Next, hot out of the tandoor oven, we eat samsa — flaky Afghan baked meat pies — at Samarqand Sambosa Tandoori. Then we drive to the base of the Hindu Kush mountains to Paghman Valley, where locals escape the city for rivers, fresh fruit, lush green trees, and incredible food. Sitting riverside at Hamesha Bahar, we finish with rosh — fall-apart lamb stew cooked with potatoes and onions — for the ultimate Afghan countryside feast! ⏱ CHAPTERS 0:00 The world's greatest breakfast? — Kabul Old City, Afghanistan 0:51 Kalla Pacha — Afghan sheep head breakfast at Faizi Kalla wa Pacha 11:42 Samsa — baked meat pies from the tandoor at Samarqand Sambosa Tandoori 16:40 Driving to Paghman Valley — base of the Hindu Kush mountains 22:51 Rosh — riverside Afghan lamb stew feast at Hamesha Bahar ▶️ Watch the full Afghanistan series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFn4i2g12iI&list=PLb9B8SFbGEws&index=1 📍 ALL THE RESTAURANTS Stop 01 | Faizi Kalla wa Pacha Restaurant (Kabul Old City, Afghanistan) 🍽 Kalla Pacha — traditional Afghan sheep's head and trotters breakfast, slow-simmered overnight.
