I had wanted to reach Kedarnath for years. On previous journeys through India, I had always thought about making the pilgrimage — but somehow, I never did. This time, I finally went. My journey begins in Kausani, travelling through the Indian Himalayas by bus and shared jeep before joining thousands of pilgrims on the Kedarnath Yatra. Some people walk. Others ride mules. Some are carried. A few fly by helicopter. I decided to walk. It had been years since I had done a trek like this, but of course I tried to keep my usual pace — brutal. The result was heat, exhaustion, altitude problems, snow and a journey of around 30 kilometres on foot. Eventually, I reached Kedarnath. For me, this was more than just another destination. After wanting to come here for so long, finally arriving at the temple in the Himalayas was an emotional moment. But the adventure was not over. I decided to try to continue beyond Kedarnath, following a mountain track to see where it would lead. Unfortunately, a rock avalanche had destroyed part of the path, and I was forced to turn back. By then I was exhausted, had twisted my ankle and still had the long journey down the mountain ahead of me. And when I finally reached my hotel, hoping for a little peace and quiet to recover… There was a wedding party.
