Hello everyone, Here we are back again with another informative video for you all. Spelling mistakes are one of the most common mistakes that we all make in our daily life. To overcome the issue and make it easier to learn English, Here we have presented a few rules for you. Here we go, Spelling Rule 1 : If a word ends with s, ss, sh, ch, x and z then it takes “-es” at the end. e.g.: Bus – Buses, Brush- Brushes, Box- Boxes etc. Spelling Rule 2: when a noun has “o” at the end and prior to it, if the letter is consonant then we take “-es” to make it plural. e.g.: Potato- Potatoes etc. But if words ends with “o” again and has vowel letters prior to it then we make it plural by simply adding “-s” only. e.g.; Video - Videos etc. Spelling Rule 3: When a noun ends with “y” and it has a vowel letter prior to it, we add “-s” at the end to make it plural. e.g.; Donkey- Donkeys, Day- Days etc. But when the noun ends with letter “y” and it has a consonant before it, then we remove "y" from it and add “-es” to convert it into plural form. e.g.: Country - Countries, Baby- Babies etc . Spelling Rule 4: When a noun ends with the letter “f” or “fe” we simply add "-ves" to make it plural. e.g.: Calf – Calves, Life – lives etc. Spelling Rule 5 : When a noun ends with “oof”, “ief”, “ff” & “rf” then simply add “s” at the end to make it plural. e.g.; Belief –Beliefs, Hoof- Hoofs etc. But then there are some irregular nouns that do not come under these rules. so for that regular practicing is most . e.g.: Mouse- Mice, Man – Men etc. Likewise, there are few nouns that are used to represent both singular and plural forms. e.g.: – Fish, Deer etc. Phone 9860279942 (Viber/WhatsApp/Call) ************************************************ #EnglishHub #SpellingRules #SpellingMistake
