Just from the song title Pink Venom itself, fans can already grasp the gist of some power struggle at play between things that bring us pleasure and pain. Hence the lyrics, "I bring the pain." As you may already know, Blackpink has touched on this topic before in previous songs such Sour Candy and Playing With Fire. In the teaser, the first polar opposites that sparks intrigue is the use of a traditional Korean instrument called the geomungo to contrast the modern kpop sound. This dichotomy of sounds actually present a well balanced upbeat melody, similar to the East Flatbush Project's 1996 hiphop song Tried by 12. And of course more recently, Crazy Over You by Blackpink, which uses the gayageum, which is also a Korean string instrument. Another contrast that is piqueing the curiosity of fans is the sharp pointed end of a sword that resembles a hand on a vintage clock that is striking the flat round surface of a gong. This visual interpretation is pretty open ended and could symbolize the bitter sweet presence of time or a lack thereof. Another metaphor on display appears to be rose tinted glasses, signifying the naivete that clouds our judgment in toxic relationships. And people often cloak themselves to portray a desirable facade. If you look closely at this shot, one individual's body posture seems to be different from the rest. There's another dichotomy emphasized in the video that is providing plenty of food for thought, and one can't help but to cue in a Bruce Lee clip. Throughout the video, you might notice the opposite colors of pink and blue in the water. In one frame the water is crashing, and in another frame it is flowing. The biggest contrast however and may I add is the most obvious one, is the one that fans are all raving about. It is the member's striking ethereal beauty in this ordinary world.
