Comment, like, share this story. Raegan was super excited to be starting 6th grade - the top of the ladder in the Lower School, top dog - and when school first started everyone was so nice to her. She had a feeling it was going to be a great year, her last year before Middle School started, and then high school! But then, for no apparent reason, some of the kids starting acting a little weird to her. Their reaction to seeing her made no sense. They stared at her and gave her weird looks, which made her confused. After half a day, everyone was doing it, staring her down, whispering to each other as they walked by her, and she had no idea why. It was really upsetting. What started off as a great first day back to school was now looking really bad, and like she would have no friends. In fact, she only had one, and that one friend told her what was really happening - and it almost made her break down in the middle of school. It turns out this one girl, who Raegan was best friends with in 3rd, 4th, and half of 5th grade, was spreading nasty rumors about her. That caused kids to react when seeing her. Halfway through fifth grade they had stopped being friends, Raegan didn't know why, but they hadn't had any problems after that, until now. The rumors were pretty bad, and a little strange, that Raegan had put her into a choke hold, had almost broken her arm, and, gave her an Indian burn, and almost broke her leg - all in the same week!!! Raegan was totally confused, and a little bit shocked and a little bit embarrassed too - none of that was true. All this drama, just because of these false rumors being spread - it was awful. So, she got up her nerve and confronted her ex-friend, which wasn't easy. She approached it as if it were a misunderstanding rather than a deliberate act. Her friend denied it, but still, Raegan told her firmly not to spread rumors! And things seemed to quiet down then, for awhile at least - until they didn't. Not long after that first day, it all started over again - the same rumors spread by the same person, and everyone talking behind her back. Again, she confronted her old friend, and this time she had her friends standing behind her, which made all the difference. They believed in her! She was tough, and strong, and stood up to her rumor-spreading ex friend, and, through it all, she gained new best friends along the way!
