Abandoned Trafford Park Moorings Road Level Crossing, Trafford Park, Manchester. Location: Moorings Road, Trafford Park and Trafford Park Road, Trafford Park Date Filmed: 25-11-2020 Located at a junction with Moorings Road and Trafford Park Road, next to the Tenax Road roundabout. This is one of a couple of a few remaining examples of infrastructure from the old Trafford Park Railway, which is a disused railway that sprawls across the Trafford Park industrial estate. The network dated back as far as the early 1900s, but since fell into decline in the 1960s and had been neglected by the 1980s. The last trains stopped in 1998 so the railways and crossings have been abandoned since then. At this junction, a single railway line crosses the main road (Moorings Road) and then runs through the middle of the junction with Trafford Park Road. As a result, it created a very unique crossing which, as it stood on this date, had a total of nine halogen warning lights, five alarms and one halogen pedestrian light. The most unique aspect of this crossing is that there is an overhead warning light on a concrete cantilever. This is probably the only location you can see such a warning light in this position in the UK. This overhead light faces south-east along Moorings Road. At the junction, there are two warning lights on taller poles and there is an example of a Forest City halogen pedestrian light. Most of the track and rails have been removed after resurfacing the road but its strange to see all the old equipment from the level crossing that was once here still standing. Thanks For Watching!
