âBecause They Stoodâ is an original song created by Tamara L. Hunter of Impactor Music Productions. Created as a heartfelt tribute to those who have served, sacrificed, and given their lives in the name of freedom, this song premiered during the May 24, 2026 Memorial Day weekend episode of the Letâs Talk Fabulous Show hosted by Joy Willett. More than a song, âBecause They Stoodâ is a deeply personal reflection on remembrance, service, sacrifice, family, and legacy. Born into a family with generations of military service reaching back through American history, Tamara shares through this project the deep respect she carries for those who answered the call to serve. Some returned home forever changed. Some never returned at all. Some were young with dreams still ahead. Some carried silver in their hair and wisdom in their hearts. All of them mattered. âBecause They Stoodâ honors not only those who served, but also the families who carried the weight of their absence â folded flags, quiet photographs, empty chairs, boots that would never walk through the door again, and the tears shed by those left behind. Musically, the song opens with ceremonial snare drums honoring generations of service members remembered across history. The male and female duet vocals reflect both the voice of service and the voice of remembrance, woven together in gratitude, sorrow, strength, and love. Special thanks to Ruben Lowing for allowing the inclusion of the photograph âDelta Platoon ST-4 â July 1989,â and for sharing a visual piece of his journey of service. Deep gratitude also to LaWanna Bradford for honoring the memory and legacy of her father, SGM Harlan L. Bradford, Sr., who served in the United States Army for 30 years (1948â1978) and was a combat veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Appreciation is also extended in honor of Bessie L. Bradford and the photograph featuring Lieutenant General Anthony R. Hale alongside her father. At its heart, this song is about humanity, sacrifice, remembrance, and the enduring ripple effect of love across generations. While inspired by Memorial Day in the United States, its message reaches beyond borders to honor all who have stood for others across time. This is a Legacy of Love song. May we never forget. May we always remember. Because they stood⊠we remember them, this day. Lyrics: Verse 1 There are names the wind still carries Through the fields and through the stone There are folded flags and quiet pictures In the hearts that wait at home There are shoes that wonât come walking Through the old familiar door But because they chose to answer We can speak and dream once more Pre-Chorus For every promise held in courage For every life laid down in love We remember with grateful hearts And lift their memory up Chorus Because they stood We stand in freedom Because they gave We hold this light Because they loved Something greater than themselves We remember them, this day In every prayer In every silence In every tear the family knows Because they stood With hearts of service Their love still lives Their honor shows Verse 2 Some were barely more than children Some had silver in their hair Some left laughter at the table Some left dreams still waiting there Now we speak their names with tenderness And bless the path they gave Chorus Because they stood We stand in freedom Because they gave We hold this light Because they loved Something greater than themselves We remember them, this day Bridge Let us be worthy of the blessing Let us be careful with this flame Let us live with deeper kindness And remember why they came Not for glory Not for power But so hope would still endure Final Chorus Because they stood We stand in freedom Because they gave We hold this light Because they loved Something greater than themselves We remember them, this day Through every year Through every generation Past the pain and through the loss Because they stood We will remember And honor the sacred cost Outro Because they stood We will remember Created by Tamara L.
