We first started this project in the summer of 2016, and now I'm finally able to release it to you guys :) I got to design the helmet of Seppe Smits, who is World Champion snowboarder in Slopestyle. It was a real challenge, but in the end I think it came out great! Oh yeah, FYI this video is NOT sponsored by Red Bull. Seppe's helmet had a ton of guidelines from Red Bull, so that's why their colors and logo is prominent on the helmet :) (Seppe is obviously a Red Bull sponsored athlete) Storytime : I randomly met Seppe Smits at a surf camp I went to with my mates in the summer of 2016, and there he got to see my drawings on Instagram and he asked me to design his helmet. I finished my first draft at the end of 2016 but it didn't transfer well onto the helmet because of it's shape. So I decided to restart and take a different approach to fit the shape of the helmet. As you can see (if you watched the video), I drew an illustraton that can be looked at from every perspective and it will always look right. This worked well on the helmet, and Red Bull decided to fly me to Switzerland (in October 2017) to meet Seppe again and deliver the helmet to him. I got to stay there for 3 days and it was such a fun experience and it's mind-blowing to see him do these crazy jumps in real life.
