RamblinAround Store: https://teespring.com/stores/ramblinaround-store I thought you guys might find this interesting. It's just a fun little experiment or demonstration that you can do with household items. It just shows how you can harness the energy left over on your television screen and use it to do work. Thanks for watching and commenting, I appreciate it. How it works - The foil is a conductor that acts as a simple capacitor once you put it on the screen. It collects the residual electrons that are left on the screen after use. It is high voltage, but low current, so it's not dangerous. The left can is grounded and the right can is hooked up to the high voltage. At the beginning, neither the left can or the tab have any charge. When the right side can becomes charged with a lot of free electrons, it repels the electrons in the pull tab, but at the same time, it attracts the positive nuclei within the tab as well. This pushes the electrons inside the tab to the far side of the tab..away from the high voltage can. At the same time, it pulls the positive nuclei to the side of the tab that is closest to the high voltage can. So, you end up with a tab that is very negatively( - )charged on the left and very positively (+) charged on the right. The positive (+) side of the tab is quickly drawn to the negatively (-) charged high voltage can on the right....because opposite charges attract and like charges repel. Once the tab touches the high voltage can, the free electrons rush onto the tab until the charge of the tab equals the charge of the can. Once the charges are equal, the tab is repelled by the high voltage can...because like charges repel. This pushes the charged tab towards the can on the left which has no charge, but does have ground potential. As the charged tab gets close to the left can, it begins to repel the electrons (-) in the can, so they move to the left side of the can. At the same time, the tab attracts all the positive (+) nuclei to the right side of the can. Since the can now has a slightly positive (+) charge on it's right side, it draws the tab into it until they touch. Once the tab touches the left can, it releases all it's excess electrons into the can, which are then carried to ground. At this point, the tab becomes ground potential again, just like it was at the beginning of the experiment, and the whole process starts over again. ** I hope this helps to clear up any questions about how this device works. As you can see, it all has to do with the attraction and repulsion of electrical charges. Like charges repel each other and opposite charges attract. Thanks for watching my video, I'm glad you found it interesting.
