🔗 Save $6,000 A Year with My Complete Amish Home-Saving Method I teach: https://eliasyoder.com You scrubbed that shower three weeks ago. You got down on your knees with the bleach and did the corners and the bottom of the wall and every grout line, and when you stood up it looked new. This morning you looked down at the corner where the wall meets the floor, and there it is again. The same dark speckling coming back through the grout, in the same places as last time and the time before. There is nothing wrong with your bathroom and nothing wrong with you. You have been killing mold, which is a thing you can do all your life without getting anywhere, because killing what is growing does nothing about why it grows. I am Elias Yoder. I farm in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. I want to tell you about a strip of metal that costs about five dollars and hangs in your shower and works quietly for years. But I am going to give you something free first, and it matters more than the strip does. I was young and we had cut a good field with rain coming, and I wanted that hay in the barn. My grandfather pulled a handful out of the middle of a windrow, not off the top, twisted it hard and held it under my nose. He said it is not ready. I said it looks ready. He said it is not the looking, it is the middle. Then he took me to the far end of the barn and showed me a place in the mow where a load had gone in a day too green, and that hay was gray and dusty and rotten and had spoiled everything around it. He said you cannot keep a thing from spoiling. You can only take away the water. Nothing rots dry. Mold wants three things. Something to eat, a surface to hold, and water. The food is soap film and skin oil and you will never stop that. The surface is porous grout and you cannot change it much. The water is the one you can take, and mold cannot grow on a dry wall. Not slowly. Not at all. What you will learn: Why bleach can work perfectly and change nothing Why grout blackens first while the tile beside it stays clean The thirty second habit that beats every product on the bathroom aisle When to do it so you actually keep doing it The three places water sits longest, and where mold always starts The failed seal that causes black in one spot and nowhere else What a zinc strip is, why roofers have used it for a century, and how to hang it Zinc versus galvanized, and why the wrong one leaves rust streaks Two mistakes that stop a zinc strip working at all What the strip honestly cannot reach, and why The borax advice going around, the part of it that is simply backwards, and the caution it never comes with Why some grout stains never come out, and why that is fine When mold means a leak and wants somebody to look at it Plain safety. Never mix cleaners in a bathroom. Never put bleach with vinegar, or with ammonia, or after an acid cleaner, because those make a harmful gas and a bathroom is a small room with the door shut. One thing at a time, plain water in between, and open a window. And borax is a mineral, not a food. Keep it off the shower floor where people stand barefoot, keep it away from children and pets, and rinse before anybody bathes. There is no scheme in why nobody tells you the simple part. Every product on that aisle is for killing what is already growing, and they do kill it, and then the wall stays wet again that evening. There is a business in a bottle you buy every month and none at all in a rubber squeegee that lasts ten years. Buy a squeegee this week and use it every single time for a month, and buy nothing else until you have. If you do all three at once you will never know which one did it. Then tell me in the comments whether the black came back. Tell me your county, the age of your house, and whether that bathroom has a window or a fan or neither. Next time I want to show you what we do about damp in a cellar, which is the same trouble in a bigger room. You cannot keep a thing from spoiling. You can only take away the water. Nothing rots dry. The people who built this country with their hands knew things we are only just starting to remember. #ShowerMold #MoldPrevention #CleaningTips #Bathroom #ZincStrip #OldWays #AmishWisdom #EliasYoder
