Thought I'd try it out. Only draws 6-8A due to there not being a huge amount of thermal energy to transfer AFAIK. They actually take 12-15V, so fair bit of wiggle room there too. So, in the name of 'science', I stuck another heatsink on top after, and it still didn't draw any more current, so maybe it's just a cheap overseas copy! It was ambient 28.5C, and after 10 mins the cold side read 10.6C and warm side 43.5C, so TDiff of ~33C - 50% what it SHOULD do - not good enough for me. Not giving up, I then put the hot side in ice water, heat gunned the cold side, and tried again. It peaked just under 8amps, then fell quickly and settled around 6.9A current. I am stumped. I'm just going to guess it's a cheapo. I also have a 6A 40x40mm module which I am using in a water cooling rig I'm tinkering with. It may or may not work, but we'll see! 6A (TEC1-12706) is the most common size and cost me $4 on eBay.
