The new E-flite Micro P-47 Thunderbolt is a WWII fighter small enough to fly in your backyard... with the FIRST-IN-CLASS working retracts and flaps ever put on a micro. On something this small. That’s wild. If you caught the Micro 787 Dreamliner last week, you know I’ve fallen back in love with micros... and this P-47 takes it further. I said in that video I wished the hobby would start putting retracts and flaps on planes this small… and E-flite literally just did it, first in class. Electric retracts, functional flaps, nav lights, a painted scale scheme (all painted, no decals), and it flew beautifully. They rate it Skill Level 3, after flying it, I’m not convinced it’s that hard. With SAFE Select on, this thing will not stall. A little history on the real one: they called the P-47 “The Jug,” and it was one of the toughest fighters of WWII... that big air-cooled radial had no coolant lines to shoot out, so pilots brought Jugs home with whole cylinders blown off and the fuselage riddled with holes. The two-ton engine basically shielded the pilot. It was the most-produced American fighter in history (~15,600 built) and the Allies’ most devastating ground-attack plane. Getting one this detailed in a micro is special.
