It's time for another list of gaming related stuff and this time around, we're looking at five particularly annoying sidekicks. They don't have to be playable characters, they can just tag along with the protagonist or turn up to offer not so sage advice. Either way, all of them will be bothersome in some way, whether it be due to bad A.I, awful dialogue, or general unlikeability. Is that a word? I really do want to help you, but jeeeeez, can you try and not be quite so helpless? When you first meet this mysterious girl, she's locked up in a cage and suspended high in the air. No sooner does your character, Ico help her out, she is grabbed and carried off by a shadow monster, and it's up to you to save her again. And this is pretty much a staple for the rest of the game. You're forced to take her along with you as she's necessary for certain puzzles, but she really is hopeless without your help. You need to constantly hold her hand, she tends to fall over a lot, and if she gets sucked into one of those black portals it's game over. 4 - Claptrap - Borderlands 2 - Yeaaaah, I get it, this guy isn't unintentionally annoying, he's supposed to be! But that doesn't exclude him from my list. Claptrap is meant to be your guide on how to play the game, but the grating voice, constant talking and absolute cowardice will have you pointing and shooting your gun at him, once he's told you how to use it of course! None of the other characters in the game like him much either, so don't worry, it's not just you. 3 - Navi - Hey listen! Hey listen! Hey listen! Need I say more? Navi is Link's fairy companion who guides him through the land of Hyrule, she was also the first character to have her own spoken lines, shouting out the infamous 'Hey listen!' whenever something of interest cropped up or 'Watch out!' if Link was about to stumble headfirst into danger. While she does have a few uses, such as enabling Link to use Z-targeting, it doesn't make up for her irksome dialogue and long winded explanations, and after a few hours you'll be wishing you could just go on the adventure by yourself. 2 - Ashley - Resident Evil 4 - This character falls into the same category as Yorda - pretty weak, defenseless and in constant need of rescuing, but at least Yorda is somewhat likable. The plot of Resident Evil 4 revolves around Ashley, the US president's daughter, and it's the protagonist Leon's job to go rescue her from a crazy Spanish village. Though once you do, you'll be wishing you'd left her there - she gets in your way, slows you down and makes a big fuss just because you looked up her skirt. At least you have some reprieve when you're separated from her for a while! 1 - Daxter - Jak series - If there's one type of character I really hate in games, it's got to be the wise cracking 'funny guy', who usually ends up not being that funny at all. Cue Daxter of the Jak and Daxter series, a pint sized, orange weasel/ferret thing that accompanies his best friend and the protagonist Jak wherever he goes. For the first two games he doesn't really have much use and spends the majority of the time berating you for dying and annoying everyone else with his bad jokes. By the third game his size and speed comes in handy for helping Jak through a couple of puzzles, but it doesn't make him any less of a nuisance.
