Welcome to The Daily. The text today is Esther 8:11-12 saying that the king allowed the Jews who were in every city to gather and defend their lives, to destroy, to kill, and to annihilate any armed force of any people or province that might attack them, children and women included, and to plunder their goods, on one day throughout all the provinces of King Ahasuerus, on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar. — Esther 8:11-12 When God opens a door, he calls us to walk through it in obedience. The Jews now have permission to gather and defend their lives against those who attack them. The appointed day is still ahead, and the new decree gives them a way to prepare. God has opened a way for his people, but they must respond to that opportunity. Their victory will not come from their strength alone. God has done the essential work of making a way forward, and now he empowers them to act in faith. Think about what that means. They can receive the news with relief, share it with their families, and celebrate. But they also need to gather, prepare, and stand together. Their obedience does not create the victory; it responds to the victory God has made possible. That helps us understand how faith works in our own lives. We may pray for God to intervene, then wonder whether we should wait or act. But when he opens a door, obedience means stepping through it. We do not act as though everything depends on us. We act because God has gone before us and supplied what we need. Perhaps you’ve been praying for a stronger faith. You want to understand Scripture and grow closer to Jesus. Then a friend invites you to a Bible study and offers to go with you. You appreciate the invitation, but weeks pass, and you still haven’t made room for it. What would happen if you recognized that invitation as a door God may be opening? You could thank him, call your friend, and show up with your Bible and your questions. Your action would not earn God’s favor or guarantee a particular outcome. It would be an obedient response to the opportunity he has provided. God does the essential work. He opens the door, gives us the opportunity, and supplies the grace to respond. Then he invites us to move forward in faith toward the victory he is accomplishing. So consider the door God may be opening. Is there an invitation you need to accept, a command you need to obey, or wise counsel you need to put into practice? Take that next step prayerfully. Tell God where you feel hesitant, thank him for going before you, and ask him to strengthen you for obedience. When God opens a door, he is not asking you to accomplish his work in your own strength. He is inviting you to trust him by walking forward in faith. The door is open. The way is prepared. Now take the step. DO THIS: Act on one offer of help, invitation, or piece of wise counsel you’ve been postponing, asking God to help you follow through. ASK THIS: What help has God already provided? What response have I been postponing? How can I depend on him as I act? PRAY THIS: Father, help me recognize your provision and trust you as I act on the help you’ve placed within my reach.
